TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo men's basketball team (15-9, 8-3 MAC) looks to bounce back from Tuesday's loss at Miami when it makes the short trip to Ypsilanti, Mich. on Saturday, Feb. 15 to face Eastern Michigan (11-13, 4-7 MAC). The contest is the second game of a doubleheader and will tip off at 3:30 p.m. at the George Gervin GameAbove Center. Streaming will be on ESPN+.
The Rockets are currently in third place in the Mid-American Conference standings, two games behind Miami (19-5, 10-1) and three behind first-place Akron (19-5, 11-0). UT posted a 90-87 home win over the Eagles on Jan. 7.
LAST TIME OUT
Toledo's MAC record 22-game winning streak vs. the RedHawks came to an end on Tuesday in Oxford. The previous record was Ball State's 20-game streak vs. Central Michigan (1987-96). Sonny Wilson scored a career-high 23 points and Sam Lewis added 21Â but it wasn't enough to offset a career-high 40 points from Miami's Kam Craft. The RedHawks also knocked down 15 three-point field goals and held a 45-33 rebounding advantage.
ROCKETS' LEADERS
Wilson and Lewis are leading Toledo with 15.9 and 15.5 ppg, respectively. Javan Simmons is averaging 11.9 ppg and a team-high 6.6 rpg. Lewis and Bryce Ford rank among the MAC's top perimeter shooters. Lewis ranks first in the MAC with a 47.2 3PTFG%, while Ford is fifth at 40.9%. Wilson is also shooting 43.5% (20-of-46) from three-point range.
ABOUT EASTERN MICHIGAN
Eastern Michigan has lost its last four MAC games following Tuesday's 86-84 (OT) defeat at Ball State. Da'Sean Nelson ranks fifth in the MAC with a team-high 15.7 ppg, including 20 points vs. the Rockets in January. Christian Henry and Jalen Terry are tied for ninth in conference scoring with 15.0 ppg.
LAST TIME VS. EMU
Sam Lewis led the Rockets with 20 points in their 90-87Â win over EMU in Savage Arena. Sonny Wilson tallied nine of his 19 points in the final four minutes, while Bryce Ford contributed a career-high 18 points.
