Rocket Rally Week kicks off as men’s and women’s basketball begin the 2025-26 campaign: football hosts Northern Illinois on Wednesday

MEN'S BASKETBALL

Men's basketball will open its 2025-26 campaign and its 111th season with two home games this week. The Rockets will compete in the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge for a third straight year on Monday at 7:00 p.m. when it hosts defending SBC co-champion South Alabama. UT will then compete against another Sun Belt foe when it battles Marshall in Savage Arena on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Saturday will also be a true doubleheader with men's basketball leading into the women's volleyball match at 5:00 p.m. One ticket will allow fans into both contests. Both events are a part of "Whiteout Weekend" and fans are encouraged to wear white.

Women's basketball begins its season against Troy on Monday, taking on the Trojans in Alabama in the MAC-SBC Challenge. Tip off is at 7:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. CT on ESPN+. Then, the Rockets return to Savage Arena for the home opener on Sunday, Nov. 9, taking on Gonzaga in front of a national audience on CBS Sports Network. Sunday's game is a whiteout, and fans are encouraged to wear white to the game. Fans will also receive rally towels and the game will feature a halftime performance by Dogs of Ohio. The Rockets are picked to finish second in the Mid-American Conference in the preseason coaches' poll.

MEN'S TENNIS
Monday – Friday, Nov. 3 - 7 / ITF World Tour M25 / East Lansing, Mich.

Men's tennis will send five Rockets to compete in the ITF World Tour M25 in East Lansing, Mich. Hanamichi Carvajal, Poonthong Komolpisut, Alejandro Gonzalez, Matias Olivero and Lucas Britez will all compete in the singles qualifying round. Action begins on Monday at 10:00 a.m.

FOOTBALL

Football return to the gridiron for midweek MACtion. The Rockets play their first and only midweek home game of the season on Wednesday, taking on Northern Illinois at the Glass Bowl at 7:00 p.m. The game will air on ESPN2. For Mission: Midweek, fans and students are encouraged to pack the Glass Bowl and show what Toledo is all about! The Rockets look to keep their undefeated home record alive, having outscored opponents 195-34 in the Glass Bowl.

WOMEN'S TENNIS
Thursday – Sunday, Nov. 6 - 9 / ITA Conference Masters / San Diego, Calif. / Tournament Draw / Live Results

Sophomore JJ Scholten is set to represent Toledo and the Mid-American Conference in singles play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Conference Masters tournament in San Diego, Calif. this weekend. Scholten won the MAC Individual Singles Championship in Kalamazoo, Mich. on Oct. 5 after winning four singles matchups against conference opponents and defeating teammate Isabella Barretto in the singles championship. The Arlington, Va. native will take on competition from 29 other conferences across the country. At the conclusion of the event, four singles players will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship.

Women's volleyball hosts its final home matches of the 2025 regular season this weekend, welcoming Buffalo to Savage Arena. The Rockets enter the week sitting third in the MAC standings with a 9-5 mark in league play. Sophomore libero Grace Freiberger leads the conference in digs (4.58 digs/set) and ranks third in service aces (0.40 aces/set) while Olivia Heitkamp leads the offense with 3.03 kills/set. Saturday's match will be the second part of a doubleheader with men's basketball beginning at 2:00 p.m. One ticket will give fans access to both events. Saturday is also a part of "Whiteout Weekend" with fans encouraged to wear white to both contests.
