Jaylohn Allen, Marco Mattucci and Rashaun Porter joining Rockets in 2026-27
TOLEDO, Ohio – Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk announced the addition of Jaylohn Allen  (Ypsilanti, Mich.), Marco Mattucci (New Albany, Ohio), and Rashaun Porter (Chicago, Ill.) to the Toledo men's basketball program on Wednesday. The trio made their decisions official to attend the University of Toledo on National Signing Day and will join the Rockets on campus prior to the start of the 2026-27 academic year.
"We're extremely happy to welcome Jaylohn, Marco and Rashaun to our Rocket family," Kowalczyk said. "They all are very well-coached and are tremendous young men that will fit in with the culture of our program."
A 6-foot-1, 180-pound guard who is ranked as the No. 3 player in Michigan by 247Sports, Allen earned first-team all-state honors as a junior for Wayne Memorial High School from the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan and Detroit Free Press and was a second-team all-state honoree from the Detroit News and Associated Press. He averaged 17.7 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 4.3 apg and 2.3 spg to go along with a 40.0 three-point field-goal percentage last season.
"Jaylohn is a tough player who can really score and make plays," Kowalczyk said. "He possesses a great winning attitude and will only get better. We've had a lot of success with Detroit-area guards like Ryan Rollins, Sonny Wilson and now Leroy Blyden Jr., and Jaylohn is right there with them."
A 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard, Mattucci averaged 14.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg and 4.0 apg last year for New Albany High School to earn first-team all-conference, second-team all-district and honorable-mention all-state honors.
"Marco caught our eye with his toughness and defense, and he's a good shooter who will continue to get better offensively," Kowalczyk said. "He has great length, and he could develop into an outstanding defender. My son Race really got him on the radar for us early in the recruiting period this summer."
A 6-foot-7, 217-pound forward who is ranked as the No. 4 player in Illinois by 247Sports, Porter has been a part of three consecutive state championship squad at DePaul College Prep. He averaged 13.0 ppg and 8.0 rpg last year and tallied 14 points and 11 rebounds in a 55-52 (2OT) victory in the state title game.
"Rashaun was heavily recruited and we're extremely excited he's joining our program," Kowalczyk said. "He comes from an unbelievably successful program that has won three straight state championships and plays in the Chicago Catholic League which is one of the better conferences in the country. He is very well-coached and a tough, skilled forward who can play different positions. He's just a winner and somebody that is athletically ready to play for us right away."
