Toledo Receives NABC Team Academic Award for Eighth Straight Year

Rockets lead all Mid-American Conference schools with 11 honors in last 14 years
TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo men's basketball program has received the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award for an eighth-straight season, the association announced on Wednesday. The award is in its 14th year of existence, and the Rockets have received the award 11 times, and UT was one of five Mid-American Conference schools honored this past academic year.
Toledo's 11 NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards lead all Mid-American Conference schools. Western Michigan ranks second with eight awards, with Central Michigan receiving the honor on four occasions. Bowling Green, Kent State, Ohio have received the award three times, with Miami being honored twice. Ball State and Eastern Michigan and have been recognized once.Â
The Team Academic Excellence Award recognizes NCAA and NAIA men's basketball teams that earned cumulative grade point averages of 3.0 or better throughout the 2025-26 academic year.
The Rockets also placed two individuals on the NABC's Honors Court: Sean Craig (3.590) and Sonny Wilson (3.287). Only juniors and seniors with academic standing as well as graduate students with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher are eligible for the Honors Court.
