TOLEDO, Ohio – With three games left in the regular season, Toledo plays at Miami on Wednesday, Nov. 12 (7:00 p.m./ESPN2) knowing its hopes for a return to the MAC Championship Game are on the line.
Toledo (5-4, 3-2 MAC) is coming off a dominating 42-3 victory over Northern Illinois on Nov. 5. The Rockets are in a three-way tie for fifth place in the MAC standings, one game behind four teams with 4-1 records, including Miami. A loss to the RedHawks would likely bury Toledo's chances for a championship, while a win would keep the Rockets in the thick of the race.
In the win over NIU, senior quarterback
Tucker Gleason threw for a season-high 309 yards and two touchdowns, while the defense put in another stellar performance, holding the Huskies to just 203 yards of total offense. NIU, which had rushed for 305 yards in a 21-7 win over Ball State the previous week, managed just 62 rushing yards on 1.7 yards per attempt. Toledo's defense currently ranks second in the FBS in total defense (232.6 yards allowed per game), trailing only Ohio State (214.8).Â
Miami (5-4, 4-1 MAC) is coming off its first conference loss of the season, a 24-20 decision at Ohio.Â
