Toledo Falls to Buffalo in MAC Dual Meet

Rockets win six events against Bulls and tally 20 top-three finishes
BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Toledo women's swimming and diving team dropped a 179-121 decision on the road to Mid-American Conference foe Buffalo on Saturday.
The Rockets are now 2-2 overall with a 1-2 conference record. Toledo finished the meet with 20 top-three finishes, including six event victories and four second-place finishes.
Senior Janne Slegers and junior Leah Evans led the way for the Rockets by winning two events apiece. Slegers captured the 100-yard freestyle (52.01) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.19). Evans won the 100-yard backstroke (55.87) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.87). Evans now leads the team with five individual victories this season, while Slegers ranks second with three wins.
Sophomore Helena Lopes won her second 50-yard freestyle race of the season with a time of 24.13. Lopes, alongside sophomore Rosie Richards, sophomore Audrey Zimmerman and freshman Tiana Temelkova, won the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:31.32.
Richards, Temelkova and freshman Claire Kemmere each notched a second-place individual finish in the meet. The Rockets' 200-yard medley relay team also finished as runners-up in their race with a time of 1:45.78.

"We swam well today. I'm happy with the fight and determination this team is showing this season. Buffalo is a tough team and I think we held our own against them - we didn't back down from a challenge. We're in a great spot as we head into our mid-season meet in a couple weeks."
