PRINCETON, N.J.  – Toledo junior
Joad Martinho recorded a career-best time of 23:14.9 to earn an eighth-place individual finish at the Princeton Fall Classic in Princeton, N.J. on Friday. This was Martinho's second-straight meet with a top-10 individual finish. He also earned fifth overall at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational on Oct. 3.
The men's team placed 17th as a team in a 31-team field, including four teams ranked or receiving votes in the USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll – No. 11 Syracuse, No. 20 Princeton, No. 29 Boise State and Oklahoma (receiving votes).
In the final team standings, the Rockets finished ahead of all three Mid-American Conference opponents: Eastern Michigan (23rd), Buffalo (24th) and UMass (25th).
Junior
Peter McMahon was the second UT runner to cross the finish line, recording a career-best time of 24:05.6 to place 51st. Junior
Max Matolin followed, capturing 67th overall with a time of 24:13.7. Junior
Sibonelo Khumalo (131st/24:42.8) and freshman
Ronald Neal (192nd/25:06.6) rounded out the Rocket scorers.
Up Next
Toledo will head to Buffalo, N.Y. for the MAC Championship race on Saturday, Nov. 1. The men's 8K is set for 11:00 a.m. with the women's 6K race following at noon.
