Senior honored for her performance in the mile and 800m at Notre Dame Invitational last weekend
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Senior Laura Nicholson was named the Mid-American Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Nicholson placed first in the mile run and second in the 800m at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind. last weekend. She recorded a time of 4:35.61 in the mile, ranking third-best in program history. Her mile time is the best in the MAC this season and 20th among all Division I athletes.
In the 800m, Nicholson posted a time of 2:07.99 which is the second-fastest time in program history. The Cork, Ireland native owns the best 800m time in the MAC and ranks 33rd among Division I runners.
This is Nicholson's first MAC Track Athlete of the Week honor this season and fourth of her career.
