Rockets Head to Kalamazoo for Wednesday Night Bout with Western Michigan

Both teams are 3-1 and tied for second in the MAC standings
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's basketball team will look for a 3-0 start in road conference games when the Rockets take on Western Michigan on Wednesday, Jan. 15. Tipoff from Read Fieldhouse will be at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN+, with radio broadcasts on WCWA 1230 AM and The Varsity Network app.

Wednesday's matchup will pair two of the four teams currently at 3-1 in the MAC standings. Both Toledo and Western Michigan trail 4-0 Ball State by one game for first place.

The Rockets (11-3, 3-1 MAC) defeated Central Michigan 71-66 on Saturday in Mt. Pleasant for their third-consecutive victory. In what became a back-and-forth affair in the fourth quarter, Toledo rattled off nine-straight points to put the game away during the final minute. Sammi Mikonowicz scored the final seven points of the run, finishing with 20 points on 6-of-9 shooting and 7-of-9 from the foul line.

The Broncos (6-8, 3-1 MAC) have won two in a row, having defeated Northern Illinois, 61-57 in DeKalb on Saturday. WMU trailed heading into the fourth quarter, but emerged victorious by out-scoring the Huskies 14-9 in the final period. Hannah Spitzley shot 7-for-13 from the field for 20 points, adding six rebounds.

Toledo holds a 68-23 edge in the all-time series and has a 30-13 record in Kalamazoo. Toledo holds a nine-game win streak in the series.
