Tucker Gleason Selected for National Quarterback Honors

Junior named Manning Award Star of the Week and Davey O'Brien Foundation "Great 8"
TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo junior quarterback Tucker Gleason was recognized among the Manning Award Stars of the Week and the Davey O'Brien Foundation's "Great 8," the respective organizations announced on Monday.

Gleason was recognized among eight top quarterbacks from the Manning Award and 16 signal callers from Davey O'Brien after the Great 8 committee elected to use its "Davey Double." His play helped Toledo to a 41-17 victory at Mississippi State on Saturday, Toledo's first victory over the SEC and the "Power Four" in nine years.

Against the Bulldogs, Gleason put up a 23-for-28 passing performance for 285 yards and three touchdowns without a turnover. He added 40 rushing yards for 325 yards of total offense. The game marked Gleason's third-consecutive performance of three passing touchdowns to start the season.

Each Manning Award Star of the Week can also be selected as the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week via a fan vote. Fans can vote on what they think is the best performance via Facebook through 10:00 a.m. EST. The Davey O'Brien National Quarterback of the Week honor will be announced on Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. EST.

With his weekly selection, Gleason has also been added to the Davey O'Brien Award Watch List, which currently stands at 52 FBS quarterbacks. In addition to his national honors, The Tampa, Fla. native was also selected as the Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Gleason and the Rockets head to Western Kentucky on Saturday, Sept. 21 for a 7:00 EST/6:00 CST kickoff on ESPN+.
