Rockets prepare for second meet of the season
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's and women's cross country teams are back in action this Saturday, Sept. 14 for Ball State's We Fly MAC Championship Preview. The women will compete in the 6k at 3:00 p.m. with the men's 8k following at 3:45 p.m.
Both squads will mark their second meet of the second on Saturday. The women are coming off a first-place finish at Akron's Tommy Evans Invitational on Aug. 30. The Rockets were led by freshman Melody Jebiwot who finished first with a time of 17:48.5 in the first collegiate cross country race of her career. Senior Lou Trois followed with a fifth-place finish (18:03.3) while sophomore Lianna Surtz finished in 10th (18:18.0). Seven Rocket women placed within the top 20 at the event and all 15 finished inside the top 85.
The men's team ran four individuals at the Tommy Evans Invitational on Aug. 30, with sophomore Max Matolin leading the way with a time of 18:45.1. Junior Joshuah Taylor and redshirt freshmen Alex Martinez and Abi Yohaness concluded the Rockets field, all of whom placed within the top 60.
