TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo Athletic Department today announced that a new videoboard will be added to Savage Arena that will enhance the game-day experience at Rocket basketball and volleyball games, as well as at other events such as graduation ceremonies that are held in the facility.

The videoboard, manufactured and installed by UberDisplays, is expected to be operational this fall. The center-hung display will have four 21'4" x 11'6" panels, totaling 980 sq. ft, more than twice the size of the previous board. The new videoboard will have more than 3.2 million pixels, nearly 8.5 times more than the previous videoboard, providing ultra-high resolution viewing for spectators.

In addition, 160 feet of new ribbonboards with more than one million pixels will be added into the arena, as well as video displays on the stanchions of each basket for basketball games.

"The new videoboard will greatly enhance the student-athlete and fan experiences at all of our events in Savage Arena," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Bryan B. Blair. "This is the second completed project in our facilities masterplan and aligns with our strategic plan, Rise Together, as we seek to recruit the very best talent, engage our fans, grow resources and continually invest in our infrastructure.

"The state-of-the-art technology provided by UberDisplays will add a new level of excitement and energy to our basketball and volleyball game days, as well as to the 50+ University and community events we host in Savage Arena each year. These digital assets will create new opportunities to generate revenue that will help us provide our student-athletes with the resources they need to thrive."

Installed 16 years ago, the current videoboard is one of the oldest in the Mid-American Conference. The new display will be the newest and largest in the conference, maintaining Savage Arena's position as the premier arena in the MAC. The operating system for the new technology is used by students in UToledo's College of Arts & Letters, further enhancing campus collaboration and experiential learning opportunities.
