Second-Half Equalizer Earns Rockets 1-1 Draw at IU Indy

Kaema Amachree scores tying goal in 79th minute in season opener

INDIANAPOLIS – The Toledo women's soccer team grabbed a 1-1 draw at IU Indy in the 2024 season opener after Kaema Amachree netted the equalizer in the 79th minute at Carroll Stadium on Thursday.

"A slow start hurt us, but we responded with a fantastic second half and out-shot them 12-2," said Head Coach Mark Batman. "We'll learn from tonight's match and move forward. We have a good opportunity in front of us on Sunday against Cincinnati."

Toledo trailed for most of the contest after an 11th-minute goal from the Jaguars' Caroline Kelley. Amachree's unassisted goal came after a dominant second half in which Toledo took the last 11 shots of the contest and kept IU Indy off the shot board for the final 36 minutes.

The game had two weather delays, one in the sixth minute and the other in the 22nd, which delayed action for over an hour in total.
