TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo senior Madison Giglio has been named the 2024 recipient of the Chuck Ealey College Undefeated Spirit Award. Giglio is the 17th Rocket to receive the award and will be honored at the Third Annual Rocket Awards on Monday, April 15, 2024.
Giglio wrapped up her diving career at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships last month, finishing 34th on the three-meter and 44th in the one-meter boards. The Orland Park, Ill. native dove in 32 meets for the Rockets in both the one-and-three-meter boards, and competed in four MAC Championships and two NCAA Zone C Diving Championships. She holds the third-best three-meter score and eighth-best one-meter mark in UT history.
Outside of athletics, Giglio founded the on-campus student organization Students for H.O.P.E during her freshman year, an organization dedicated to informing and encouraging students about the benefits and needs of organ donations.
Giglio, a civil engineering major, is a two-time CSCAA Scholar All-America, CSC Academic All-District Team, and Academic All-MAC honoree.
The Chuck Ealey Foundation, founded in 2007, presents the Chuck Ealey College Undefeated Spirit Award to the student-athlete who best demonstrates the behaviors of living the Undefeated Spirit in their sport, in the classroom, and in the community. Award winners are role models for making good choices and living with an Undefeated Spirit in everything that they do. The award also recognizes that behind every person with an Undefeated Spirit, others around them have instilled this spirit.
The award is named after Chuck Ealey, one of the greatest football players in UT history. A quarterback, Ealey led the Rockets to a perfect 35-0 record and three Mid-American Conference Championships from 1969-71. His mother, Earline Ealey, is the inspiration behind the award. She lived her life with an Undefeated Spirit and instilled that spirit in Chuck, who has been working to instill the same spirit into his family and everyone around him.
