TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo men's basketball team (18-11, 12-4 MAC) travels to Oxford, Ohio on Tuesday, March 5 to face fifth-place Miami (15-14, 9-7 MAC) in its final road game of the season. The contest will be streamed on ESPN+ and tip off at 7:00 p.m. in Millett Hall.
The three-time defending MAC champion Rockets trail first-place Akron (21-8, 13-3) by a game in the league standings and are one game in front of third-place Ohio (17-12, 11-5). A win over the RedHawks on Tuesday would secure no lower than the No. 2 seed for UT in next week's Mid-American Conference Tournament in Cleveland.
Toledo is coming off an 85-79 win at Buffalo on Saturday that saw all five of its starters score in double figures and combine for 80 points.
Sonny Wilson tallied a season-high 20 points and nine rebounds to lead the way and give the Rockets their seventh straight win over the Bulls.
The Rockets shot just 43.1% from the field but knocked down 27-of-30 (90.0%) free-throw attempts. Toledo held a 36-33 rebounding advantage and also forced Buffalo to commit 17 miscues leading to a 24-9 advantage in points off turnovers.
Ra'Heim Moss is leading UT offensively with a career-high 15.9 ppg followed by
Dante Maddox Jr. (15.5),
Tyler Cochran (14.3) and
Javan Simmons (12.6).
Moss led the Rockets with 18 points in UT's 68-64 win over Miami on Jan. 5. The Rockets were down eight with 7:13 to play before going on a game-changing 14-2 run to take a 63-59 advantage at the 2:07 mark. Miami came within a point twice in the final two minutes but couldn't regain the lead.
The RedHawks rank second in the MAC in scoring defense (68.9), FG% defense (42.2), 3PTFG% (36.9), and 3PTFG% defense (31.0). Senior Anderson Mirambeaux paces Miami with 12.9 ppg.
