ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Toledo softball team led early but ultimately dropped a 12-3 (6 inn.) decision to Michigan on Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field.
Toledo (13-13, 4-2 MAC) scored first and held a 3-2 lead until Michigan flipped the game with an eight-run fifth inning to make it 10-3. An inning later, Michigan's Jenissa Conway ended the contest by run-rule with a walk-off two-run homer, her second of the game.
Junior
Kendra VanderLugt had two of the Rockets' four hits on the day. Senior
Jenna Kroll drove in one run to put her at 99 RBIs for her career. Junior
Sophia Knight came on in relief in the fourth inning and gave up four runs on three hits in 1.0 inning of work for the loss. Junior
Kylee Graham, who got the start and re-entered the game in the fifth inning, gave up a total of nine hits and eight runs in 4.1 innings in the circle.
The Rockets will have their first home series at Scott Park with Ball State at the end of the week. Friday's Daddy Daughter Day promotional doubleheader will begin at 1:00 p.m., and Saturday's Mommy Daughter Day promotional game is set for 3:00 p.m.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Eli Enriquez scored on an error and Jenna Kroll hit an RBI single to put Toledo ahead 2-0 in the opening frame.
- Jenissa Conway put Michigan on the board with a solo homer in the second.
- Michigan's Keke Tholl tied the game with a two-out homer in the third.
- Madison Mikulski's sac. fly to center field put Toledo back in the lead in the fourth, 3-2.
- The Wolverines took their first lead in the bottom of the fifth with two, two-run homers, an RBI single, and Indiana Langford's three-run inside-the-park homer to make it a 10-3 game.
- Conway walked off with a two-run homer in the sixth to end the game 12-3 for Michigan.
