Toledo Hosts Miami Wednesday Looking For Eighth-Straight Victory

Rockets tied for first place in the MAC with six regular-season games left

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo women's basketball team will try to make it eight straight wins when it hosts Miami on Wednesday (7:00 p.m./ESPN+).

Toledo (19-4, 11-1 MAC) enters Wednesday's game tied for first in the Mid-American Conference standings, sharing the top spot with Ball State (22-3, 11-1 MAC). The Rockets defeated Miami (7-16, 4-8) in Oxford in the conference opener for both schools on Jan. 3. 

Last Time Out
Toledo is coming off an 88-68 win at Bowling Green in the latest edition of Battle of I-75 at Bowling Green on Saturday night, clinching a spot in the MAC Tournament. The victory was the fourth consecutive win in the series for the Rockets, who also defeated the Falcons in Toledo, 82-70, on Feb. 3. Saturday.s win was the seventh consecutive for the Rockets, which kept pace with Ball State at the top of the MAC standings.

Quinesha Lockett scored a season-high 26 points and added seven rebounds, a career-high tying seven assists and three steals. The senior was named MAC Player of the Week for her efforts in the BGSU win. Sophia Wiard (13 points) and Hannah Noveroske (10) also scored in double figures for Toledo and saw seven players score at least eight points.

The Rockets shot 31-of-64 (.484) and 8-of-20 (.400) from three-point range and held the Falcons to just 25-of-57 (.439) from the field while forcing 20 turnovers on nine steals.

• Toledo's seven-game winning streak is its longest since winning a school-record 17 in a row last season.
• The Rockets are 77-15 (.837) since the start of the 2021-22 season, 46-4 (.920) in MAC play.
• Toledo is 23-1 in home MAC games since the beginning of the 2021-22 season and has won 19 straight MAC games in Savage Arena.
• Quinesha Lockett's 2,262 career points rank second all-time at UT and is seventh among active D-I players. 
• Sophia Wiard has 1,568 points which ranks 10th all-time at UT. She needs five points to move into ninth place ahead of Kaayla McIntyre (1,572 from 2015-19).
