Former walk-on has played in 22 games on Toledo's offensive line

TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo offensive lineman Carter Fouty was named a Burlsworth Trophy Nominee, an annual award presented to the top FBS player who entered college football as a walk-on, the Burlsworth Trophy announced this week.

Fouty, a junior, has started all nine games on the offensive line this season, mostly at guard. He has played in 22 games in his career after playing in 10 games at offensive line last season and three more in 2022.

A native of nearby Oregon, Ohio, Fouty has helped Toledo rank first in the Mid-American Conference in passing yards (261.3 yards per game), second in passing efficiency (144.7) and third in scoring offense (29.1).

Fouty was selected to the list among 78 student-athletes. He began his college football career at the Air Force Academy in 2020, and later transferred to Toledo in the spring of 2021.
