Toledo Wraps Up Day One of Magnus Cup Invitational

Annie Bartlett and Kassie Gutierrez move on to 3M finals while two relay teams place within the top five
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Toledo women's swimming and diving team grabbed two top-five finishes in relay events during the first day of the Magnus Cup Invitational hosted by Cleveland State on Thursday night.
"We had a great day one at the Magnus Cup Invitational," said Head Coach Jacy Dyer. "We had several best times and season best times and diving scores. The team really brought awesome energy, especially at finals. Looking forward to what these women will do the rest of the meet!"
The Rockets' 200 free relay team comprised of Audrey Zimmerman, Janne Slegers, Leah Evans and Rosie Richards recorded a fourth-place finish with a final time of 1:33.10. In the 400 medley relay, Gracie Pardue, Mackenzie Bushey, Evans and Slegers teamed up and marked a final time of 3:45.47 for fourth place. Â
On the 3M diving boards, two Rockets are moving on to the finals. Annie Bartlett placed fifth in the event with Kassie Gutierrez following behind in sixth.
In individual events, Richards tallied a final time of 5:01.87 to take 11th in the 500 freestyle. Slegers took 13th in the 50 freestyle with a final mark of 23.51.
As a team, Toledo currently sits in eighth out of 12 teams, totaling 127 points during the first day of competition.
UP NEXT
Toledo will return to day two of the Magnus Cup Invitational at Busbey Natatorium. Prelims begin at 9:00 a.m. while diving kicks off at 1:00 p.m. Final events will start at 6:00 p.m.
