Rockets are looking for their fourth straight win
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's basketball team hosts Western Michigan on Wednesday in its first home Mid-American Conference game of the season.
The Rockets (9-3, 2-0 MAC) and Broncos (5-7, 0-2 MAC) will tip off at 7:00 p.m. at Savage Arena and the game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
The Rockets have won their last three games, including road victories at Miami and Eastern Michigan. Through the first week of conference play Toledo boasts the stingiest defense in the league (43.5 PPG) and is one of four teams to remain unbeaten in conference play, joining Ball State, Bowling Green, and Kent State.
Last Time Out
Toledo is coming off a 48-35 win at Eastern Michigan on Saturday. It was a strong defensive effort for UT, which allowed its fewest points against a MAC opponent since holding Ohio to 33 points on Jan. 22, 2012. The Rockets also matched their lowest points allowed this season, also holding Loyola Maryland to 35 points on Dec. 10. Sophia Wiard and Hannah Noveroske both scored 12 points to tie for the team lead. Wiard also led the way with six assists, while Emmi Rinat contributed eight points and a team-high seven rebounds. Wiard and Noveroske both blocked two shots and Sammi Mikonowicz added a career-high four steals.

Toledo boasts a 65-23 record all-time vs. Western Michigan and has won the last six meetings. The Rockets are 33-9 all-time against the Broncos at home, and head coach Tricia Cullop owns a 27-5 record against WMU.

Western Michigan is 5-7 overall and 0-2 in MAC play, losing its first two conference games to Ball State and Bowling Green. Kaitlyn Zarycki is averaging 17.8 PPG, which ranks third in the league, and she is second in field goal percentage (48.1%). She is also the top free throw shooter in the MAC, and one of the best in the nation, making 91.4% of her free throw attempts.
