TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo men's basketball team (9-6, 2-0 MAC) will look to remain unbeaten in Mid-American Conference play when it hosts Ball State (8-7, 0-3 MAC) on Saturday, Jan. 13 in the only meeting of the two programs this season. The contest will tip off at 7:00 p.m. in Savage Arena and be streamed on ESPN+. UT is also teaming with Life Connection of Ohio for the seventh-annual "Rockets for Life" game to promote awareness for organ donation in Northwest Ohio.Â
Six Rockets scored in double figures on Tuesday night to propel Toledo to a convincing 89-75 triumph at Kent State in the M.A.C. Center. The victory kept UT in a first-place tie in the league standings with Akron (11-4, 3-0 MAC) and Western Michigan (6-9, 3-0 MAC).
Tyler Cochran led the way against KSU with 21 points with his final basket giving him 1,000 points in his collegiate career.
Javan Simmons tied his season high with 15 points and was joined in double digits by
Ra'Heim Moss (13 pts.),
Sonny Wilson (13 pts.),
Dante Maddox Jr. (11 pts.) and
Andre Lorentsson (10 pts.).
Toledo shot a season-high 58.3% from the field as well as an identical 58.3% (7-of-12) from three-point range. The Rockets also made a season-high 26-of-31 free throws, more than doubling the Golden Flashes' 10-of-13 totals at the line.
Ball State brings a five-game losing streak into Saturday's contest following Tuesday's 80-76 home setback to Akron. The Cardinals held a 71-65 lead with 4:00 remaining before the Zips rallied by hitting three treys in the next two minutes.
Basheer Jihad leads BSU with 19.1 ppg and 8.0 rpg with Jalin Anderson (15.8 ppg), Mickey Pearson Jr. (11.6 ppg), and Davion Bailey (11.6 ppg) also scoring in double digits.
Toledo has won six of its last 10 games vs. Ball State as well as three of its last four meetings against the Cardinals in Savage Arena.
