London, Ont. native averaged team-high 15.9 ppg with 38.8 three-point FG% for Long Island last year
TOLEDO, Ohio – Head men's basketball coach Tod Kowalczyk announced Wednesday that Marko Maletic is transferring to the University of Toledo from Long Island University.
"We're very excited to have Marko join our program," Kowalczyk said. "Marko is an elite shooter and a floor spacer, but he's more than that. I think he has a really good feel for how to play. Marko is also good with the ball in his hands and has a lot of international experience playing with the Canadian National Team."
A 6-6, 208-pound guard from London, Ont., Maletic averaged a team-high 15.9 ppg as well as 3.1 rpg in 28.5 mpg. He scored in double figures in 20 of 24 contests and topped the 20-point mark on eight occasions.
Maletic's top-scoring outings included a career-high 32 points at James Madison as well as 29-point and 28-point performances against eventual NCAA Tournament participant Fairleigh Dickinson. A prolific three-point shooter, Maletic ranked 30th nationally last year with 2.88 three-point field goals per game and topped the Sharks with a 38.8 three-point FG% (69-of-178).
Â
Before attending LIU, Maletic attended Laramie County (Wyo.) Community College (2021-22) where he averaged 12.4 ppg and 2.8 rpg with a 37.3 three-point FG% in 12 games.
