Toledo athletic director honored for his dedication to improving the fan experience at UT sports events and his commitment to student-athletes
TOLEDO, Ohio -Â Â University of Toledo Vice President and Director of Athletics Bryan B. Blair recently received honorary membership into the ARX Chapter of Blue Key, a student service organization on the UToledo campus. Blair was chosen for the honor for his dedication to improving the fan experience at UT sports events and his commitment to Rocket student-athletes.
"Blue Key is so proud of Bryan Blair and all that he has accomplished in his short time at UT," said Jonathan Kopacz, president of the ARX Chapter of Blue Key. "His passion for excellence in leadership, scholarship, and philanthropy makes him a perfect candidate to be tapped as an honorary Blue Key member. His relentless dedication to improving the fan experience at UT sporting events and his commitment to UT's student-athletes and their future success is inspiring. We could not be more excited about having Bryan join us as an honorary member of Blue Key. We have no doubt that he will accomplish many more amazing things as he is just getting started at UT."
"I am humbled to be recognized for honorary membership into Blue Key," said Blair. "Blue Key represents the best of the best at UToledo. I've been impressed by them and their alumni, even during the interview process for this opportunity to serve as our AD. They are an incredible group of Rockets who do amazing work on our campus, including the Homecoming parade and Songfest. I am proud to be associated with such an inspiring group of Toledo students and alumni, and look forward to further serving them and our entire student body in the future."
In addition to being named an honorary member to their organization, last fall Blue Key chose Blair to serve as Grand Marshal of the 2022 UT Homecoming Parade.Â
About Blue Key
The ARX Chapter of Blue Key was founded at the University of Toledo in 1952. Membership in Blue Key is respected campus wide and is limited to 13 student leaders annually. Blue Key is best known for two key events that are recognized as being the two longest-standing traditions at the University: The Edward C. and Helen G. Schmakel Homecoming Parade and Songfest. Known for their singing, Blue Key members sing the UT Alma Mater at several key campus events.Â
Every year, Blue Key members spend months planning the Homecoming parade and select a candidate to serve as the Grand Marshal of that year's parade. Each year during the Songfest event in April, Blue Key selects outstanding members of the UT community to tap into Blue Key as honorary members.
