Alex Bauer Earns Bronze Medal in 5000m race; Toledo Finishes 10th at MAC Outdoor Championships

Toledo has six distance runners and 4x400 Relay team finish on thepodium the final day of competition
AKRON, Ohio –Toledo women's track & field distance runners went six-for-six on the podium in the last day of competition at the 2023 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday afternoon at the Lee R. Jackson Track & Field Complex. Toledo finished 10th overall with 46 team points.
The Rockets finished 3-4-7 in the 1500m finals, led by Alex Bauer who earned the bronze medal with her time of 4:28.22. Bauer finished a half-step ahead of Lou Trois who crossed the line at 4:28.32. Lianna Surtz almost matched her personal-best time and finished seventh with a time of 4:32.17.
In the 5000m race, UT finished 4-6-7 headed by Joy Chirchir who crossed the finish line at 16:45.18. Morgan Hicks was 10 seconds off her PR and finished with a time of 16:50.46. Madeline Vining rounded out the Rockets' group, clocked with a time of 16:54.46.
The 4x400m relay team of Laryah Worthy, Khamani Jones, Ava Moran and Shianne Johnson ran a 3:52.12 to finish eighth.
Toledo 4x100m relay team of Alexia Moehling, Ava Moran, Jimesha Ragland and Meyah Haywood opened up the third and final day of competition with a ninth-place finish with a season-best time of 47.48.
In the field, Amara Okpalaoka jumped 11.04m in the triple jump, and Sydney Caddell was two inches off her PR with a mark of 10.72m.
Over three days of competition, Toledo had 11 total podium finishes, collected two individual medals, and recorded nine personal-best times.
