Rockets run fifth-and-seventh fastest times in program history
AZUSA, Calif. – Junior Madeline Vining and sophomore Joy Chirchir competed for the first time in the 10,000m invite race at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Thursday night, and finished 16th and 22nd, respectively. Both Vining's and Chirchir's personal-best times were the fastest by any Rockets this season and cracked the top-10 times in program outdoor history.
Vining crossed the finish line at 34:03.57, the fastest time by a Rocket this season and fifth-fastest time by a UT distance runner in outdoor program history. Chirchir followed not long after with a time of 34:20.31, the second-fastest time by a Rocket this season and seventh-fastest outdoor time in program history.
Toledo's 800m and 5000m runners will continue competition on Friday, with action kicking off in Cougar Stadium at 7:00 a.m. PDT. A group of sprinters and jumpers will open the Tiffin Track Carnival on Friday morning, with field events beginning at 9:00 a.m. EST and running events starting at 11:00 a.m. EST.
