TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's swimming & diving program mourns the loss of program founder Robert "Bob" Fountain, who passed away on Thursday, Jan. 26 at the age of 88.

A Toledo, Ohio native, Fountain started the men's swimming program and became the school's first varsity coach, a position he held from 1973-81. He had numerous swimmers reach the top six in MAC Championship competition. Fountain also has served for many years as the Rocket Club administrator, generating hundreds of new memberships and thousands of dollars to support the Rockets from the mid-70's until the mid-90's. Fountain also was the executive director of the Downtown Coaches Association for many years.

In lieu of flowers, Fountain's family have asked that memorial contributions be made to either Downtown Coaches Association (LINK) or the Toledo Swimming & Diving program (LINK).
