Toledo Takes Down Michigan for the Second Season in a Row!
The Rockets are coming off a 69-46 victory against Michigan at home on Wednesday night. A regular-season record 7,082 fans saw Toledo defeat the Wolverines, who are ranked No. 25 in the most recent coaches poll.
Wednesday's game was the third sellout in program history and the first in a regular season game. The other two sellouts were the semifinal (7,020) and championship (7,301) contests during UT's 2011 WNIT title run. It was also the first nationally televised regular-season game in program history, and Toledo made the most of its larger stage.
The raucous crowd witnessed Toledo dominate Michigan from the get-go. Toledo controlled the game nearly the entire night, leading for almost 38 minutes of game time, and holding a double-digit lead for much of that time. The Rockets won the second quarter by a whopping 23-7 margin to take a 19-point lead into halftime and continued to pile it on from there. Their lead stretched into the 20's in the second half and peaked at 26 before settling at 23, 69-46. Toledo has now defeated Michigan in back-to-back seasons for the first time in over 30 years.
Last Time vs. Loyola Maryland – Nov. 30, 2022
Toledo visited Loyola last year and came home with a 62-40 victory. The Rockets held the Greyhounds to 40 points and forced 22 turnovers, both of which are season-best totals. Loyola kept the Rockets' lead to single digits in the first half, but UT shot 60.0 percent in the third quarter to surge ahead and take a commanding 16-point lead, 44-28, heading into the fourth quarter. With the game already in hand, the Rockets outscored the Greyhounds 18-12 in the final frame to seal the deal.
