TOLEDO, Ohio – Junior running back
Jacquez Stuart has been named to the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll, the Louisville Sports Commission announced Tuesday.
Stuart was one of four players to receive the award this week after his terrific performance against Northern Illinois on Saturday. He recorded 198 all-purpose yards in the 35-33 win, helping lift the Rockets to their fourth straight victory. Stuart was also named MAC West Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts returning kicks, as he totaled 119 kick return yards and had a long return of 48 yards.
Stuart also rushed 15 times for 79 yards and a touchdown after missing the previous two games. Sixty-eight of his rushing yards came in the second half to help Toledo hang on to win.
Toledo visits UMass this weekend for its second straight nationally-televised game. The Rockets and Minutemen will kick off at noon on ESPNU.
Paul Hornung Award
The Louisville Sports Commission successfully launched the Paul Hornung Award in 2010 to honor its namesake and native son, and to promote outstanding performances by versatile college football players who often go unnoticed. Each week during the regular season, a panel of college football experts selects players for the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll based on performance.
Voting for the 2023 Paul Hornung Award presented by Texas Roadhouse is now open. A national selection committee comprised of 17 sports journalists and former NFL stars will vote on the Hornung Award winner, with a fan vote comprising the 18th vote. College football fans can vote once every 24 hours until Nov. 12 at midnight when the fan voting closes.
