TOLEDO, Ohio – Senior guard Quinesha Lockett of the Toledo women's basketball team has been named to the mid-season watch list for the 2023 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award presented by Her Hoop Stats.
Lockett is one of 15 players to be named to the list and the only MAC player to appear.
The Omaha, Neb. native ranks fifth in the MAC in scoring (16.9 PPG) and is averaging 4.6 RPG and 3.6 APG. Lockett is shooting 47.0% from the floor and has reached double figures in scoring in all but one contest this year. She has performed even better in conference play, leading the league in scoring (22.5 PPG) while shooting 55.6% from the floor against MAC opponents.
To be eligible for this award, players must compete in one of the 26 conferences deemed to be "mid-major." The 10 semifinalists will be announced in February, with five finalists being announced in early March. The winner will be announced in late March. The list is fluid and players may play their way on or off the list over the course of the season. The Becky Hammon Award was first given out in 2020, with South Dakota's Ciara Duffy being named the inaugural winner. FGCU's Kierstan Bell won the award in 2021 and 2022.
