Amelia Lee Shoots Seven-Under 209 at Penn State to Win First Tourney Title

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Senior Amelia Lee captured her first tournament title as a Rocket to lead the Toledo women's golf team to a sixth-place finish on Sunday at Penn State's Nittany Lion Invitational. Lee shot a seven-under 209 (68-71-70) on PSU's par-72, 6,402-yard Blue Course to finish with the second-best 54-hole score in program history.

"I was thinking, finally!" Lee said. "I've been close to winning before and this time I was able to pull it off. I'm proud of myself and am thankful for everyone who has supported me and believed in me. This is as much for them as it is for me."

Lee finished four strokes ahead of her nearest competitor and was the only individual to post under-par numbers in all three rounds. She fired a career-low four-under 68 in the first round, a one-under 71 in the second, and a two-under 70 in today's final round.

"I'm so proud of Amelia," Head Coach Jenny Coluccio said. "She has been knocking on this door for a while and to see her finally break through is amazing. She has worked so hard mostly on her mental process this past year and very rewarding to see it pay off for her."

Junior Macy Hanus and freshman Reese Jansa also carded one-over par 73s today to help the Rockets move up two spots in the team standings. Hanus ended the tournament tied for 36th place at 13-over par 227 (74-80-73). Jansa finished with an eight-over par 152 but didn't play the second round due to injury.

Rounding out the Rocket lineup were sophomore Yedam Lee (T-68th/234) and junior Angel Hii (T-75th/236).

Tournament host Penn State captured the tournament title at three-under par 861.

Toledo is back in action in three weeks when it hosts the Rocket Classic on Oct. 10-11 at the Catawba Island Club in Port Clinton, Ohio.
