INDEPENDENCE, Minn. – The Toledo men's golf team shot a one-under par 283 on Monday en route to finishing in an 11
th-place tie with Coastal Carolina at Minnesota's Gopher Invitational. The Rockets finished the 54-hole event with a one-under par 283 and were competing against a field that included five schools ranked in the Top 60 of last year's Golfstat rankings.
Junior
Barend Botha topped the Rockets today at the par-71, 7,293-yard
Windsong Farm Golf Club with a two-under 69. After carding a three-over 74 in his opening round, Botha played the final two rounds at six-under par to tie for 18
th place in the individual standings.
Senior
NJ Botha also posted a red number today with a one-under par 70 to finish the tournament tied for 33
rd place with an even-par 213.
Rounding out the Rocket lineup were junior Jamie
Tofte Nielsen (T-44
th/215), freshman
Bence Kotel (T-49
th/216) and senior Palmer
Yenrick (T-72
nd/222). Yenrick posted his best round of the tourney today with an even-par 71.
Georgia Southern captured the tournament title at 20-under par, five strokes in front of Kansas. The Eagles' Wilson Andress earned medalist honors with an impressive 11-under par 202 (69-67-66).
Toledo will be off the next two weeks before hosting the Inverness Intercollegiate on Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 26-27.
