TOLEDO, Ohio - Sophomore
Barend Botha received Mid-American Conference Men's Golfer of the Week honors for the third time in his career, the league office announced on Friday. Botha was honored after tying for eighth place to lead Toledo to an eighth-place finish at North Carolina State's Stitch Intercollegiate last Saturday.
A George, South Africa native, Botha competed against a tournament field that included five schools ranked in Golfstat's Top 50. Botha shot a one-over par 217 and finished ahead of five individuals ranked in Golfstat's Top 60, including Notre Dame's Palmer Jackson, the No. 6 player in the country. He was five strokes out of first place and ranked in the Top 10 in par-five scoring at five-under par.
Toledo will return to action next weekend when it travels to Columbus, Ohio for Ohio State's Robert Kepler Intercollegiate on April 23-24.
