TOLEDO, Ohio – University of Toledo head swimming and diving coach Brie Globig announced the signing of Janne Slegers to the 2022-23 recruiting class.

Slegers is the fifth member to join the Rockets for the 2022-23 season.

About Janne

• International Swimming Festival Aachen 2021: took second in the 200 backstroke.
• Senior Open Dutch Championships 2021: took second in the 4x200 freestyle.
• Dutch Youth Championships 2017, 2018: took second in the 4x 200 freestyle and the 4x 100 freestyle.
• Dutch Youth Championships 2019: took second in the 4x 200 freestyle and the 4x 100 freestyle.
• International Talent Trophy 2020: took first in the 100 freestyle, second in the 50 freestyle and 50 backstroke, and third in the 100 backstroke.
• Slegers plans to major in psychology and nutrition.
• Has one brother, Kris (13).

Why Janne chose Toledo: "I choose to attend Toledo because I had a really good first impression after my call with coach Brie and I feel like the academic level and athletic level really suit me. Next to that I also really liked the fact that the team is so close, and they made me feel so welcome after our FaceTime conversation!"
