Clark, Karaslan Lead Rockets in Final Day of Akron Invitational

AKRON, Ohio – Sophomore Krystal Clark and senior Semra Karaslan led the University of Toledo women's track and field team on the final day of the 18th Annual Akron Invitational. Clark finished second in the 800m run, while Karaslan recorded a personal-best 2:13.68 time in the 800m run.
In the Blue division, senior Rayna Horner took fourth in the 400m dash with a 59.71, and 13th in the 200m dash where she ran a 26.37. Clark placed second in the 800m run after she ran a 2:17.13, while sophomore Sarah-Rose Sullivan was right behind placing third with a time of 2:17.46.
In the Blue division field events, Madeline Barnes placed second in the pole vault when she reached 3.50m. In the long jump, freshmen Amara Okpalaoka (5.34m) and Sydney Caddell (5.08m) placed fourth and eighth, respectively.
In the Gold division track events, four Rockets placed in the Top 10. In the mile run, freshman Olivia Gang placed third (4.59.99), and seniors Claire Steigerwald (5:05.000) and Rebecca Snyder (6:06.00) placed sixth and seventh, respectively. Senior Semra Karaslan took fourth in the 800m run with a personal-best time of 2:14.68.
In the field events, sophomore Promise Cross placed third in the Gold division's 60m hurdles (8.80) and high jump (1.65).
Toledo will compete in two different competitions next weekend. The Rockets will compete in Boston University's David Hemery Valentine Invite in Boston, Mass. and Grand Valley State University's Big Meet in Allendale, Mich. on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 11-12.
