TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo women's track and field team travels to Kent, Ohio to compete at the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 25-26.
Head Coach Andrea Grove-McDonough expects her team to be in the hunt for top finishes in a number of events. Sophomores Faith Linga, Madeline Vining, Emily Vining, and freshman Joy Chirchir will compete in the 5000m . Freshman Morgan Hicks will join Chirchir and the Vining sisters in the 3000m. In the 800m, senior Semra Karaslan and freshman Krystal Clark will run for the Rockets. Unfortunately for the Rockets, sophomore Lou Trois will not run due to injury. Trios was the No. 1 seed in both the mile and the 3000m going into the meet.

"We are expecting our distance runners to put some points on the board," said Grove-McDonough. "We will run our heavy hitters from cross country in the 3000 and 5000. Semera and Krystal should get us some points in the 800. Promise Cross should also score for us in the hurdles, high jump and multis."

Grove-McDonough said that the meet will be good learning experience for some of her younger runners. "We have a number of freshmen in the lineup so that they can get experience running in a big meet," she said.

The event is hosted by Kent State University and will run all day on both Friday and Saturday.
