Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Rockets Stifle Greyhounds in 62-40 Victory

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Toledo women's basketball extended its road winning streak to 13 games on Wednesday with a 62-40 win at Loyola Maryland.

The Rockets (5-2) own the nation's longest road winning streak, which dates back to Dec. 29, 2021.

Toledo held the Greyhounds (4-4) to 40 points and forced 22 turnovers, both of which are season-best totals. Loyola kept the Rockets' lead to single digits in the first half, but UT shot 60.0 percent in the third quarter to surge ahead and take a commanding 16-point lead, 44-28, heading into the fourth quarter. With the game already in-hand, the Rockets outscored the Greyhounds 18-12 in the final frame to seal the deal.

"It was a little bit of a sloppy game," head coach Tricia Cullop said. "I'm glad we can play sloppy on the road and still win, but we need to clean some things up when we get back home. It was good to extend the lead though in the second half and get everybody in the game. You never know when you'll need somebody so it was great to see everyone get some in-game reps."

Senior Quinesha Lockett paced Toledo with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting, knocking down 3-of-4 shots from beyond the arc. Sophomore Jessica Cook scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while junior Sammi Mikonowicz added eight points and eight boards. Senior Justina King scored a season-high nine points, on 3-of-3 shooting, all of which came in the fourth quarter. Senior Jayda Jansen was a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc and scored eight points in the win.

Toledo shot 43.4 percent from the field (23-for-53) and knocked down 7-of-15 three-pointers. Loyola shot 32.6 percent (15-for-46) and made just 3-of-13 three-point field goals.

The Greyhounds were led by Lex Therien, who scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Bri Rozzi was close behind with eight points.

Following Wednesday's game at Loyola, Toledo returns home to host Missouri State on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 1:00 p.m.
