TOLEDO, Ohio – Fans can get their first glimpse of the 2022-23 Toledo women's basketball team this weekend when it hosts Ferris State on Sunday for an exhibition game at Savage Arena. The game will tip off at 2:00 p.m. and admission is free for all fans and parking will be available in lots 3, 4, 5, and 6.
The Rockets were recently picked to finish first in the Mid-American Conference in the preseason coaches poll, receiving 11 of 12 possible first-place votes. Senior guards Quinesha Lockett and Sophia Wiard were also named preseason First-Team All-MAC. Lockett was also named to the preseason watch list for the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award.
In addition to Lockett and Wiard, Toledo returns nearly its entire roster from last year's team that turned in one of their best seasons in program history. The Rockets won their 10th MAC regular-season title in 2021-22, posting a 29-6 overall mark which tied a school record for most wins in a season. Toledo set a league record for most conference wins in a season, going 19-1 in MAC play in 2021-22.
The Rockets open their 2022-23 season at home on Monday, Nov. 7 against Wright State at 11:00 a.m. in their annual Education Day game. Toledo's non-conference schedule also includes home contests against NCAA Tournament regulars Duke, Dayton and Missouri State, and road games against Cincinnati and Michigan. MAC play begins on Wednesday, Jan. 4 with a home tilt against Western Michigan.

Ferris State won its first-ever GLIAC Tournament Championship last season, posting wins against Saginaw Valley State, Wayne State, and Grand Valley State en route to the title. The Bulldogs lost their NCAA Tournament opener against Division II powerhouse Ashland.
