TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo men's basketball team will play its final exhibition game prior to the 2022-23 season when it visits the University of Findlay on Sunday, Oct. 30. The contest vs. the Oilers will tip off at 3:00 p.m. at the Croy Physical Education Center. Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for students. All proceeds for the game will be going to Mission Possible in Findlay, Ohio for individuals in need in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
The Rockets posted a 100-59 victory over Hillsdale in their first exhibition last Saturday. Senior JT Shumate topped UT with 19 points, while junior RayJ Dennis tallied 16 points.
Toledo was picked to finish second earlier this week in the MAC Coaches Preseason Poll. The top three teams in the poll were separated by just eight points in the voting. The Rockets received 131 points, four points behind Kent State and four ahead of defending MAC Tournament champion Akron.
"We have a great deal respect for Findlay's program and that's why we choose to go on the road to play against them," Kowalczyk said. "Findlay is very talented and extremely well-coached, and we were down 12 points in the second half last year and learned a lot of lessons. It's going to be loud and hard for us to communicate. Their fans get after us, and it truly helps us prepare for our season."
Findlay posted a 19-11 win-loss mark last year and is picked to finish second in the G-MAC by the league's head coaches. First-team All-GMAC forward Nathan Bruns is the Oilers' leading returning scorer with 14.5 ppg to go along with 7.4 rpg.
Â
The Rockets will be visiting Findlay for the fourth time in the last six years. Toledo posted single-digit victories over the Oilers in 2019 (75-68) and last year (83-78) after dropping an 89-86 decision in 2017.
Toledo opens its regular season vs. Valparaiso on Monday, Nov. 7 in Savage Arena.Â
Season and individual game tickets for the men's basketball program are on sale now. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit the Rocket Athletic Ticket Office at the Sullivan Athletic Complex in Savage Arena, contact the Rocket Athletic Ticket Office at 419-530-GOLD (4653) or go online to UTRockets.com/tix.
