TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo men's golf team will close out its fall season this weekend when it travels to Vero Beach, Fla. for the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational. The Rockets will be competing in the event hosted by Michigan State on Sunday-Monday, Oct. 16-17.
 
The tournament will be held at the par-72, 7,460-yard Quail Valley Golf Club with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start being utilized each day.

The Field
The Rockets will be competing against a 16-team field that includes six schools ranked in the Top 50 of Golfweek's rankings: No. 30 Notre Dame, No. 31 Cincinnati, No. 36 North Florida, No. 38 Missouri, No. 45 Indiana and No. 49 Northwestern. The Rockets are ranked No. 81 by Golfweek and will also be competing against No. 53 Michigan State, No. 55 Liberty, No. 59 Wisconsin, No. 65 Memphis, No. 87 Rutgers, No. 91 South Florida, No. 101 Penn State, No. 120 Northern Illinois and No. 211 Maryland.

This Week's Lineup
The Rockets' lineup will include junior Barend Botha at No. 1, junior Jamie Tofte Nielsen at No. 2, senior NJ Botha at No. 3, freshman Bence Kotel at No. 4, and senior Palmer Yenrick at No. 5.

Barend Botha tops the Rockets with a 71.3 stroke average and is followed by Nielsen (72.6), NJ Botha (73.3), Kotel (73.8) and Yenrick (74.1).

Last Time Out
Nielsen led Toledo at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate earlier this week with a two-under par 214 after carding a four-under 68 and one-under 71 in the final two rounds. Barend Botha opened the tournament with a four-under 68 and two-under 70 before finishing with a one-under par 215.

Fun in Florida
The Rockets set a school record last year at the Quail Valley event with a team score of 22-under par to finish in fourth place against a field that included six teams ranked among the Top 35. Nielsen led the way for Toledo at eight-under par with Barend Botha shooting seven-under par.

Toledo will resume its 2022-23 campaign next spring when it travels to Mobile, Ala. for the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate on Feb. 13-14.
