TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo women's track and field team will begin the new year in Ann Arbor, Mich., at the Wolverine Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 8.
Field events are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. followed by track events at 12:30 p.m.
The Rockets opened their indoor season with a ninth-place finish at the GVSU Holiday Open on Dec. 3. Toledo recorded six top-10 finishes, led by freshman
Amara Okpalaoka, who took second in the long jump with a 5.62m mark. Also scoring high in the field events were sophomores
Promise Cross and
Alexia Moehling, who took fifth and ninth respectively in the 60H.
Junior
Lou Trois led the track events for the Rockets with a sixth place finish in the 3000m (9:30.4). Toledo's relay team finished seventh in the 4x400 and freshman
Olivia Gang finished eighth in the 3000m.
Trois' finish earned her Mid-American Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week honors.
