Rockets Win Eight Events in Dual-Meet Loss at Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Toledo swimming and diving team won eight events in a dual-meet against rival Bowling Green Saturday afternoon, but came up short by a 172-128 margin. Juniors Jovana Duric and Kennedy Lovell and sophomore Sydney Conrad won two events each.
"I am proud of the team's efforts today," head coach Brie Globig said. "We had a lot of standout performances that rank very high in the conference, and I look forward to our next meet."
Duric and Lovell led the freestyle events while Conrad owned the butterfly events. Duric had a standout performance in the 1650 freestyle, finishing a pool length ahead of the competition at 17:05.84. Duric also took first in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:03.92.
Lovell excelled in three events, taking two individual wins and anchoring the freestyle relay team to a first-place finish. Lovell clocked 23.58 in the 50 freestyle, 50.47 in the 100 freestyle, and ended the relay with a time of 1:35.32.
Conrad won both the 200 butterfly (2:04.94) and the 100 butterfly (55.80).
Junior Ashley Lefever recorded a win in the 200 freestyle, touching the wall at 1:53.48.
Sophomore Madison Giglio led the Rockets' diving events. She took third in the three-meter with a season-best 264.30 and second in the one-meter at 261.07.
Next on Toledo's radar is its home dual meet against Akron on Senior Night on Friday, Jan. 28. The meet is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. in the Student Recreation Center Pool, with senior recognition scheduled for 4:40 p.m.

Next on Toledo's radar is its home dual meet against Akron on Senior Night on Friday, Jan. 28. The meet is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. in the Student Recreation Center Pool, with senior recognition scheduled for 4:40 p.m.
Other Toledo Top-3 finishes
- The 200 medley relay team of Madeline Blakely, Lauren Kilgore, Sydney Conrad and Kennedy Lovell finished second with a time of 1:45.95.
- Samantha Ekleberry finished second in the 400 IM with a touch-time of 4:41.35, and finished the 1650 freestyle at third with a season-best 17:29.72.
- Molly Pressler finished third in the 200 freestyle at 1:56.37, and third in the 500 freestyle with a career-best 5:10.40.
- Kilgore had two third-place finishes. She finished the 100 breaststroke at 1:05.94 and the 200 breaststroke at 2:25.79.
- Ashley Lefever took the runner up position in the 100 freestyle with a career-best 52.21.
- Morgan Schuld finished 2:08.88 in the 200 backstroke for a third-place finish. Â
