TOLEDO, Ohio — NCAA Senior Vice President of Basketball Dan Gavitt will serve as the keynote speaker for Toledo's annual Rocket Roundball Social on Thursday, Nov. 4 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on the main floor in Savage Arena. University of Toledo President Gregory Postel is hosting the event and all proceeds will go directly to the Toledo Men's Basketball Progress Fund.

      The Rocket Roundball Social, which is an event that has grown into a Toledo Basketball tradition, offers individuals the opportunity to meet Dr. Postel, Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk, his staff and players while enjoying food from some of Toledo's finest restaurants.

      "We're really excited to be hosting our Rocket Roundball Social for a 10^th year," Kowalczyk said. "This event is our only fundraiser of the year and is critical to our program's development account. We use this money to enhance our program, and our student-athletes are grateful for all the support our community provides."

      Gavitt assumed his current role in 2012 after serving as the Big East Conference's associate commissioner for men's basketball. Prior to his service at the Big East, Gavitt was the director of athletics and recreation at Bryant University, where he was named the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Division II Northeast Athletic Director of the Year in 2005. Gavitt joins an impressive list of speakers at previous Rocket Roundball Socials that includes John Beilein, Jay Bilas, Dan Dakich, Fran Fraschilla, Seth Greenberg, Jeff Van Gundy and Stan Van Gundy.

      "We've been extremely blessed to have some unbelievable speakers at our Rocket Roundball Social," Kowalczyk said. "This year, I couldn't be more excited to welcome NCAA Senior Vice President of Basketball Dan Gavitt. He truly is one of the most respected people in all of college athletics. Dan has impacted the game in so many ways and is as good of a person I've ever been around."

      A silent and live auction will be held during the evening, the items available for purchase include "Roadtrip with the Rockets" including the game at Michigan State on Dec. 4 as well as a Mid-American Conference road game, 24 suite tickets for a Rocket home game, Elton John concert and dinner with Tod and Julie Kowalczyk, dinner at Coach Kowalczyk's house and a round of golf with the Rocket coaching staff.

      A limited number of individual tickets are available for $100.00 each.
