Toledo captured its first MAC title since 2013-14 last year, posting an overall record of 21-9 with a 15-4 mark in league play. The Rockets earned their 10th all-time NIT berth and were led by MAC Player of the Year Marreon Jackson, MAC Freshman of the Year Ryan Rollins, and Second-Team All-MAC honoree Spencer Littleson. In addition to Rollins (13.7 ppg, 5.2 rpg), the Rockets also return juniors Setric Millner Jr. (12.9 ppg, 6.8 rpg), JT Shumate (11.3 ppg, 4.4 rpg), Keshaun Saunders (6.8 ppg) and AJ Edu, who missed most of the past two seasons due to injuries but was on the MAC All-Freshman Team in 2018-19. Six freshmen will join the team next seasons, along with Boise State transfer RayJ Dennis (8.6 ppg, 2.9 apg).
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The Rockets finished their season with a 12-12 overall record and an 8-12 mark in Mid-American Conference play, ending their season by winning three of their final four contests. Sophomore Quinesha Lockett was named Third-Team All-MAC, averaging 19.6 ppg while leading the team in steals (2.0 spg) and ranking second in rebounding (5.3 rpg) and assists (2.8 apg). Toledo welcomes back virtually all of its offensive production from last year, including sophomore Sophia Wiard (13.7 ppg, 5.3 rpg), freshman Sammi Mikonowicz (9.2 ppg, 6.0 rpg) and freshman Khera Goss (6.4 ppg, 1.3 spg). Wiard turned in one of the best offensive performances ever by a Rocket last year, tying a school record with 42 points in a win at Northern Illinois (Dec. 10).
