GREENVILLE, S.C. – Toledo carded a three-over par 287 on Saturday to move up one spot into sixth place after two rounds at the 51st Annual Furman Intercollegiate. The Rockets are just seven strokes behind fourth-place Chattanooga in the team standings in the three-day event being held at the par 71, 6,994-yard Furman University Golf Course.
"Our round had more positive moments than yesterday and the guys showed flashes of what they can do," Head Coach Jeff Roope said. "We're still making a couple of mistakes though that are game changers. If we can clean up our lag putting, eliminate short sides and so forth our scores will drop immediately."
Â
Junior David Amm (72-73) and freshman Barend Botha (74-71) are leading the Rockets and tied for 24th place at three-over par 145. One stroke behind are sophomore NJ Botha (74-72) and junior Muhammed Afif Mohd Fathi (75-71) tied for 31st place at four-over par 146.
Â
Freshman Jamie Tofte Nielsen is tied for 61st place at nine-over par 151 (76-75). Senior Nate Thomson is competing as an individual and tied for 31st place at four-over par 146 (74-72).
Furman is leading the 17-team field at two-under par 566, with the Paladins' Keller Harper sitting atop the individual leaderboard at seven-under 135.
Sunday's final round will begin with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.
