BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University of Toledo women's swimming and diving program sent its divers to the UB Diving Invite this weekend, where Junior Joelle Gallais qualified for the NCAA Zone Diving Meet on platform after her performance on Sunday.
"Overall I am happy how the meet went," diving coach Gabby Agostino said. "It was very competitive and a great experience to have a similar meet to conference. We still have a lot of work to do but we are progressing in the right direction."
Freshman Madison Giglio posted a score of 255.90 on the three-meter on Saturday to advance through prelims. Gallais recorded the highest score on platform on Sunday (246.65) to advance to the finals in that event and clinch her spot at NCAA Zones next month.
Giglio, Gallais, and freshman Ryli Harden made the trip to Buffalo. All three competed on the one- and three-meter, while Gallais was the lone Rocket to participate in the platform competition.
Harden posted scores of 203.5 on the one-meter and 211.05 on the three-meter. Giglio's score on the one-meter was 244.80, and Gallais was given a score of 222.85.
Following this weekend's action, the Rockets will visit Eastern Michigan next weekend for a tri-meet featuring Bowling Green before hosting Buffalo on Friday, March 12 in their final home meet of the year. The NCAA Zone Diving Meet will take place in between from Sunday-Tuesday, March 7-9.
