EMU Last Chance Meet

Toledo will head to Eastern Michigan for the EMU Last Chance Meet this weekend.

TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo swimming and diving team will compete at the EMU Last Chance Meet at Eastern Michigan on Friday and Saturday.

Both days will begin with a prelim session at 9:00 a.m. followed by finals at 5:00 p.m. Diving will take place in between at 1:30 p.m., with the one-meter competition scheduled for Friday and the three-meter set for Saturday.

"We're excited to be racing at Eastern Michigan this weekend," head coach Brie Globig said. "We did a short rest for this meet and I'm expecting some great time improvements. This is good practice for MACs in mid-April."

Last Time Out
The Rockets' divers went to the UB Diving Invite last weekend, where junior Joelle Gallais posted an NCAA Zone Diving Meet qualifying score on platform (246.65). Freshmen Madison Giglio and Ryli Harden also made the trip to Buffalo, competing on one and three-meter. Giglio advanced to the finals on three-meter after posting a score of 255.90 in prelims.

The last time the swimmers competed was Feb. 5-6 at home against Bowling Green. The Rockets won five events in the pool against BGSU, four of which came in freestyle races. Sophomore Kennedy Lovell had an excellent day, winning two individual races and helping Toledo win the 400 freestyle relay (3:31.76). Lovell touched the wall first in the 50 free (24.26) and 200 free (1:54.55) and contributed a 52.03 100 free split in the relay victory.

Senior Lisa Eriksson, sophomore Lauren Kilgore, and sophomore Ashley Lefever were the other three swimmers in the Rockets' relay-winning foursome. Individually, Kilgore won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.19 and junior Samantha Ekleberry won the 1000 free in 10:39.76.

Toledo will host Buffalo on Friday, March 12 and visit Miami on Saturday, March 20 to gear up for MAC Championships, which will take place on April 15-17 in Ypsilanti, Mich.
