"Our guys have been working a lot consistency whether it has been consistent effort, consistent self-talk and consistent decision-making," Head Coach Jeff Roope said. "On any given day, they can all play at the highest high level. Now they just have to do it consistently."
Botha started his round on the back nine and made the turn at even-par before collecting birdies on Holes No. 2, 3, 4 and 6. He is tied for 20th place in the individual standings at one-under par 143 (75-68).
"Barend played at a high level all day and stayed patient to convert his chances," Roope said. "It paid off on his second nine."
Sophomore NJ Botha, Barend's older brother, is leading the Rockets in the tourney at three-under par 141 (70-71) after shooting a one-under 71 today in a round consisting of three birdies and two bogeys.
