TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo women's tennis team hosts Cleveland State at Twos Athletic Club on Friday afternoon. The Rockets and Vikings are set to do battle at 1:00 p.m.

"Cleveland State got the best of us last season and the girls have been thinking about that match for a year," head coach Tracy Mauntler said. "I expect our players to be extremely motivated to play them again."

Toledo and Cleveland State faced one another last season on Feb. 7, and the Vikings left the court with a 5-2 victory.

Last Time Out
The Rockets opened their 2021 season two weeks ago against a Notre Dame team that ended last season ranked No. 25 in the ITA NCAA Division I rankings. All four of Toledo's freshmen played both singles and doubles on Jan. 30 against the Fighting Irish. Julia Kuszynski teamed with sophomore Sloane Teske on the top doubles court, Cassie Alcala and senior Patricia Panta played on court No. 2, and Shalini Tallamraju and Ava McQuillin made for an all-freshman duo on court three.

In singles play, Alcala made her collegiate debut playing on the top court, while Kuszynski and Tallamraju played on courts four and six, respectively.

McQuillin faced off against Notre Dame's Yashna Yellayi in an exhibition match and came out on top, 8-6.

Fan attendance policy
There will be no general admission fan attendance allowed at Toledo women's tennis indoor matches this season. Only immediate family members of student-athletes will be allowed at the venue.

About Cleveland State
The Vikings own an 0-2 record on the season, losing matches against familiar foes Eastern Michigan and Miami. Cleveland State returns five letterwinners from last year's squad, including All-League Honoree senior Klara Mrcela. Mrcela and Miruna Vasilescu earned Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week honors earlier this week for their performance against the RedHawks.

Next Up
Toledo will visit Youngstown State on Friday, Feb. 19 to start a string of five straight road matches. The Rockets will return to the Glass City on Wednesday, March 10 to host Oakland.
