Rockets Finish Sixth at Zippy Invitational

AKRON, Ohio – The Toledo women's swimming team closed out the calendar year at Akron's Zippy Invitational, Friday-Sunday. The Rockets earned 459.5 points over the three days, recorded all in-season best swims and 30 career-best times.
"I'm very proud of the team for pushing through a three-day meet format and having immense success each day," head coach Brie Globig said. "Every single race completed was either an in-season of lifetime best time."
Toledo was led by junior Lauren Kilgore who had the highest finish of the Rockets, second overall in the 200 IM while setting a career best and season-best time. Kilgore added three additional top-10 finishes what were also career- and season-best finishes. Junior Kennedy Lovell had three top-10 finishes with three season-best finished, her highest at third overall in the 200 freestyle. Junior Jovana Duric had two top-10 finishes with three season-best swims.
In attendance with Toledo at the three-day invite were Akron (w), Bloomsburg University (m/w), Buffalo (w), Clarion University (m/w), Cornell (m/w), Keiser University (m/w), Niagara University (m/w), Oakland (m/w), and Pennsylvania (m/w).
The Rockets will be back in the pool after the new year when the divers kick off 2022 at Buffalo's three-day Buffalo Diving Invitational. The invitational will run Friday-Sunday, Jan. 14-16 at the Alumni Arena Natatorium & Doris Raynolds Pool.
