TOLEDO, Ohio — The Toledo men's golf team will look to build on its strong showing earlier this week at the Purdue Fall Invitational when it travels to Vero Beach, Fla. for the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational.
The 16-team tournament will be held at the par-72, 7,350-yard Quail Valley Golf Club on Sunday-Monday, Oct. 20-21. The course was designed by Tommy Fazio and Nick Price, and was voted as one of the Top 10 Premier Clubs by LINKS Magazine in 2010.
The Rockets will be competing against a field that includes No. 10 South Florida, No. 11 Kansas, No. 24 Northwestern, No. 25 Indiana, No. 28 Michigan State and No. 31 Kent State. Also participating in the tourney are Boston College, Jacksonville, Louisiana, Maryland, Memphis, Miami (Ohio), UMKC, Nebraska and Rutgers.
Toledo's lineup will include sophomore
Barend Botha and
Jamie Tofte Nielsen, as well as seniors
David Amm,
Lukas Clark and
Max Siegfried. Botha leads the Rockets with a 72.3 stroke average, just ahead of Nielsen (73.0) and Clark (73.2).
Clark tied for ninth place at two-under par 214 at Purdue on Tuesday to help the Rockets to a third-place showing. Toledo finished behind only the No. 11 Hoosiers by seven strokes and No. 22 Purdue by six shots.
